Jeff is the mastermind behind Highland Open Water Swim, after he decided one day that he was going to swim the Sound of Mull. In his youth, Jeff was the youngest to swim competitively for county Durham and is now an experienced diving instructor and pilot. Planning ahead is one of his top skills.
A former BBC TV reporter, now a freelance videographer and cameraman, Simon takes most of the pictures you see on our website. He is the author of the Scottish Sea Kayak Trail guidebook and swims year-round in Loch Sunart - always in a wetsuit!
Kayak and safety expert, Ally makes sure swimmers stay safe at all times.The swims wouldn't be the same without his yellow and blue hat! Now runs his own business teaching how to kayak.
The better half (!!) of the Forrester/Reis duo, Alex sits patiently in front of the computer answering all your questions. Not a fast swimmer, but good at admin. Now a freelance science writer with a particular interest in Scottish wildlife. >
Jess has become a valued member of the team, as a swimmer, a kayaker and soup-maker. Just ask for her famous tomato soup at your next swim and you won't regret it! Also, you may have spotted her on the wheelhouse at the Corran Ferry as she is one of the skippers.
Open canoeist with numerous firsts under his belt including first circumnavigation of the UK mainland by open canoe.Ex Royal Marine, Ex Cop now runs a canoe guiding business. Awarded an MBE in 2017 for services to the community.
Ruth started open water swimming with her local swim group in Loch Leven in 2016 and quickly became obsessed. She is happy to promote the sport to anyone who will listen! Can also be seen on the water seakayaking - it goes with the territory of the West Coast.
Julian swam competitively to county level as a youngster. Now swims open water for fun and masters competitions. Coach at Lochaber Leisure swim team, with an active role in the club, occasionally competing with the kids in club galas.
Karl has been an outdoor professional since leaving school and now runs his own adventure tourism business. Although seen in sea kayaks at the swim events, he can also be seen walking the mountains, cycling and paddling open canoes.
