After the success in 2019, we have another trip to Corryvreckan for 2 swims in September - we have space for 10 swimmers each day and they fill up fast! The Gulf of Corryvreckan is high on the tick list for all wild swimmers. It's known around the world for the notorious whirlpool which builds with the flood and ebb tides. We swim at slack water from Jura to the imposing cliffs of Scarba, catching the sea at its calmest - although here it's rarely calm!
ABOUT THE SWIM
Please note you will not be able to register for this swim online. If you're interested in finding out more, please contact us. This is definetily not a swim for beginners and we need to check that participants are capable of completing the swim.
Swim Requirement, Distance and Time
• Experience of open water swimming in challenging sea conditions is essential plus a minimum open water swimming speed of 25 min/km
• The trip will include a compulsory acclimatisation swim to select groupings. You will be assigned to a small group of swimmers for the actual swim.
• Point to point across the gulf is 1.5km but some swimmers have covered double that distance when caught by tide.
Group Size and Boat Support
This trip has a maximum group size of ten participants for each swim. This group will be split into a maximum of two groups, based on speed, with each group being accompanied by their own safety vessel/escort.
From kayakers to soup-makers, our events are run by a (very!) small army of dedicated volunteers, who offer their time and expertise to keep everybody safe and happy during the swim. We are always looking for help, and if you would like to join the team (even if it's for just one event), please contact Alex at email@example.com Volunteers receive no payment, but can get as many cups of coffee as they want! We are grateful for any help, as these events would not happen without your support.
SOMETHING WE MISSED?
