A CRAZY IDEA...
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Highland Open Water Swim is the brainchild of outdoor enthusiast Jeff Forrester.
We started in 2016 to enjoy the beautiful environment that we are lucky to live close to in the Highlands of Scotland, while at the same time raising funds towards Children with Cancer UK.
The original idea only involved a few events, but numbers just kept increasing and by the time we organised our last swim in the first year - across the Sound of Mull - there were more than 100 crazy people in the water, including swimmers and safety team.
Fast forward to 2019 and, now that we have charity status, its is our intention to continue to promote open water swimming as long as we can, inspiring others to experience some of the most beautiful coastline and see the aquatic life, from common porpoises and bottlenose dolphins, to basking sharks and common grey seals to name but a few.
Our second aim is to raise money for charity through swimming. In the past we have raised over £13,000 to Children with Cancer thanks to your generous donations. This year, our chosen charity is The Brain Tumour Charity, who are working tirelessly to find new treatments for brain cancer. We hope that you can continue to help us raise money for this worthy cause.
